Back to a New Normal

Today I decided that I wanted to start a new personal journey and document what happens along the way on this website. I’ve spent the last few months trying to drum up a new creative endeavor/business venture and it’s been crickets so far. Why not just document each day and see what happens?

A good starting point might be to explore my motive. I read and watch folks from all walks of life on the internet talk about “escaping the 9-5 rat race” or being their own boss and I can’t say that I align with it. I have a career in manufacturing that I enjoy and have worked hard at it since 2017. I’ve even been promoted a couple of times so there’s further evidence that I like what I do! The answer is that I have always been drawn to creative endeavors it seems. When I graduated high school I became obsessed with a sub set of the Call of Duty video game franchise community that recorded themselves playing the game, edit the recordings into videos, and post them on YouTube. At the time (2012-2015) this was considered a fringe hobby… look what it has morphed into now! After that obsession subsided I started a YouTube talk show channel with one of my good friends and published over 200 videos that covered the video game industry in general. We built that channel up to around 300 subscribers before calling it quits due to other life circumstances taking priority for both of us.

The feeling of pursuing a creative idea is unmatched to me. I had a blast working on the projects I mentioned above and I feel that I’m missing that in my life currently! I miss the feeling of waking up and seeing a video that I made got 50 views overnight or having a conversation with somebody on a topic we’re both passionate about.

What’s a good kickoff blog post without going over what to expect from it? I’m committed to posting to this blog page twice a week and staying authentic to myself. If I knew the type of content I am planning on posting regularly I would tell you, but I’ve found that my curiosities change frequently enough that it would be unwise of me to hard commit! At the very least my posts will be written to generate discussion and provoke thought!
